Williams Releases Podcast on Rural Teller County

Dan Williams, Candidate for Teller County Commissioner, District 1, released his 7th podcast.  This podcast addresses the future of Rural Teller County.

"Teller County is changing as more and more people move from the Front Range into Teller County.  This growth brings opportunities and challenges," Williams commented.  "There will be a natural tension between those who want more development and those who want to preserve what we have and what makes our home especially unique.

"Now, we can simply turn our heads the other way and say that government has no role in this discussion, or we can strike a healthy balance between the opportunity offered by this growth and the desire to maintain our natural beauty.

"What kind of development do we want?  Where?  And how much?  Have we decided what will be lost due to this development, and are we ok with that?

"I welcome that discussion, and will support what we, the citizenry decide, but let there be no doubt:  there will be disagreement among good people who would otherwise agree on so many other issues.  It takes a leader to help blend and balance these divergent perspectives.

"Simply ignoring the issue under some 'Government Should Get Out of the Way' campaign talking point is certainly one path, but I would argue that it is not what anyone wants.  Remember, 'no decision' is a decision too."

Dan Williams Represents Teller County Veterans in Colorado Springs

Dan Williams, Candidate for Teller County Commissioner, District 1, represented our County's perspective at the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Board meeting in Colorado Springs on February 7th, in partnership with Commissioner Norm Steen.

As a Key Veteran leader in Teller County, commanding American Legion Post 1980 and a member of VFW Post 6051, Dan also helps to manage the Veterans Trust Fund.  This fund is a state grant for Veterans in crisis.

Dan presented Teller County Lessons Learned and offered suggestions to help streamline and shorten the time from request to payment.  He was assisted by Bob Lowery, a Vietnam Veteran and the Service Officer for the American Legion and the VFW.  In Teller County nearly 1 out of 4 people  are Veterans and in Colorado nearly 1/2 million residents are Veterans.  In fact, Colorado's front range from Wyoming to New Mexico along the I-25 corridor is the 2nd largest grouping of Veterans in the Nation.  As Teller County grows so will its Veteran population.

Dan understands this demographic and is the only Veteran running for County Commissioner.

Dan Williams Talks About Veterans

Dan Williams, Candidate for Teller County Commissioner, District 1, released his 6th podcast, today.  This podcast discusses a special segment of our county's population, Veterans.  Patriotism is certainly not limited to the Veteran Population, but this demographic has unique skill sets and in some cases, has unique challenges due to combat experiences.

As many know, Dan is a 30-year combat veteran, and in doing so, represented our values and ideals under the harshest of circumstances and under fire, as nearly 1 in 4 other people in Teller County have.  For Dan, service is a life-long calling.

"I am proud to be a veteran," Williams commented.  "And while we are unique, I am equally proud of others who put their personal comforts aside to serve our citizens here in Teller County.  These include law enforcement, first responders, teachers, the clergy, and the medical community."

Williams continued, "I don't expect you to vote for me just because I wore a uniform, but because of the skills I demonstrated while in uniform and the verifiable service to Teller County I have demonstrated in the past 5 years.  These include the ability to uphold our shared values under pressure, a strong moral compass, respect for the law and our elected officials, the ability to blend and represent divergent opinions and different cultures, decision-making, organizational skills and responsible management of public resources...just to name a few."

Williams Releases Podcast on the Role of Government

Dan Williams, candidate for Teller County Commissioner, District 1, released a podcast on the role of government in Teller County.

"Teller County regulations and ordinances, of which there are only eight active, reflect the will of our residents and citizens," Williams observed.  "And if we the people don't like them, we change them.  We don't just turn a blind eye and selectively enforce them upon the working taxpayers, while ignoring violations made by the powerful few."

"This is not the greed of the few but the will of the many," Williams continued.  "That is why I fund my own campaign.  I am beholden only to those I represent, and that is the people of Teller County, and not a few wealthy donors who paid for my campaign with the goal of future selective enforcement under some banner of limited government."
